About This Coffee

Here at Bean Brothers we have had this incredible vintage rum infused coffee in development for nearly a year, and now the time has come to unleash this beauty upon the general public. The coffee beans have been sourced from various regions in Guatemala, grown at an altitude of 1350+ m , from varietals of Bourbon, Caturra and Catuai. The beans have been washed and rum infused, allowing you to taste a lovely nutty, dark rum flavour which gives way to dark chocolate, marzipan and dried fruit with aromas of exotic spices. This coffee is truly extraordinary and has unequivocally won 3 stars in the national gold standard Great Taste Awards two years in a row - 2022 and 2023.

Judges commented: “Well roasted beans with the distinct aroma of the rum. A wonderful, rich, fruity aroma gives a stunning flavour profile, rich with fruity raisins and warming rum but with the coffee singing. A very exciting coffee with all the different ingredients working in harmony to produce a delicious and well judged drink.”

Roasting Captain’s Grog

We’ve taken a classic, great all-round coffee, one of our best sellers, the Guatemalan Bojangles and slowly infused it with a fabulous 23 year old vintage rum from Mexico - Ron Los Valientes. We age the green beans with the rum for 60 days, turning the beans by hand every couple of days so that every bean has a chance to absorb the rum’s aromas and incredible flavours. The beans are then carefully roasted medium-dark which evaporates 100% of the alcohol content but ensures that the complex flavours and unmistakable aromas of the dark rum itself remain.
